Mike McInnerney participated in the London counterculture scene in the sixties producing psychedelic posters and street murals before moving into main stream media creating images for the music and publishing industry as well as exhibiting work both nationally and internationally.

Current work comments on everyday experiences using contrasting pictorial ideas and methods of practice. The gouache paintings are portraits of west London trees and woodland paths painted on-site over half a day. The work develops abstract brush marks into factual descriptions and is a primary example of improvised making with a risk of failure. The ballpoint pen drawings explore the theme of folktales and is studio based work visualising everyday activities as a way of commenting on peoples customs and beliefs.
