Graham Townsend was a keen scribbler as a youth and tried out acrylics and exhibited a few paintings before the distractions of his teens. A brief hiatus of about 25 years followed, where he hardly painted at all, until 2008 when he decided to experiment with oils.

Finding that he enjoyed them, he has been painting ever since, and doing his best to improve. Lots of practice, looking at the work of as many other artists as he can, reading up on the theory and just trying to keep his eyes open and see things.
