Dick Bates was raised in Sevenoaks, Kent, and has lived in Putney for 39 years. Inspired during a romance with a New Zealand girl, Dick took up painting and has honed his skills at College and on various British and overseas ‘working’ trips to now become a full-time artist.

All Dick’s work, is produced on location and not from photographs. He is happy to take on commissions of locations, homes and treasured pets.
