Alan Smart trained at Sutton Art School. Left advertising to study painting in St Ives in the 1960s. Varied career has included graphics, scene painting for TV and murals for commercial and private clients.

Shows in St Ives and London – Alton Gallery in Barnes, Chelsea Art Society, Mall Galleries and Affordable Art Fair. Took part in Artists at Home (aah) Open Studios in Hammersmith and Chiswick, Putney Open Studios and Wandsworth Open House. Paintings in private collections. Currently working on still life and also semi-abstract paintings of Cornwall/everyday objects.
